San Miguel Chapel: Details

A windows true purpose, to let in natural light.

Modern day lighting with color to brighten up the inside of the chapel.

A simple, but effective detail on the door to let visitors know where they are entering.

San Miguel Chapel

I liked the simplicity of this chapel.

It was a small chapel, but there was a lot of attention to detail put into this chapel. They are small details (as I mentioned it was a simple chapel), but still noticeable. The main detail was the back wall. If you notice there is no large crucifix like in most chapels, there is only the small one of the table. Like I said simple details.

I know there is a name for these, but I can't remember and I'm unable to find a name for them with a google search. These are supposed to help to heal the part that the metal is shaped into. If you have lung problems then you get a lung "charm", if your cow is sick then find a cow "charm". I was surprised at how many different pieces were available.

The Streets of Santa Fe

I loved walking around downtown Santa Fe. There were a lot of architecture that I don't get to see very often. The weather was perfect with some beautiful cloud formations. I wanted to watch them go by all day long, but I had places to go and food to eat.

The streets of Santa Fe were relatively quiet. I'm sure it had something to do with the fact that I visited outside of the main tourist season. There were no festivals going on, but that made my time there more enjoyable. I really felt like I was on vacation with the leisurely pace.

Some more of the architecture that I imagined to be a part of Santa Fe's history.

A Chapel in Santa Fe

This is actually one of several chapels in Santa Fe. Each one is a little different, so I recommend a visit in each one. There is no fee, but instead they ask for a donation. Of course, you don't have to, but your donation does help with the upkeep of the chapel.

This door isn't a part of the chapel architecture, but it is a short walk away. I like the feeling of this photograph and wanted to share it with you.

Time for a Vacation

In September I set off for Seattle to spend about a month in the U.S. I also used this chance to fly down to Santa Fe, NM. and drive up to Anacortes, WA. to catch a ferry to the San Juan Islands where I spent a day at Friday Harbor. This photo was taken at Nagoya airport before I left for the month.

My first stop was of course my hometown of Gig Harbor, WA. I had this lovely view on my first morning of waking up in my old room.

What a wonderful way to be greeted in my hometown!

A Healthy Lunch

One of the nice things about lunch is that you can find good food for decent prices. This was at Harano Kitchen where you choose from lunch sets at 1,100 yen a set. It comes with a drink as well. It was really healthy since it's mainly tofu, avocado, tomatoes, okra and seaweed over rice mixed with soy beans and sesame seeds. Then you have a consomme soup and salad. What's not to love?

Of course, after lunch we went for coffee to continue chatting. This isn't at the same restaurant, unfortunately I have forgotten the name, but I will be back someday! Their coffee was actually good and they came in these fun cups!
