A Chapel in Chimayo

This Chapel is special for many reasons. For it's historical significance and for it's healing powers. From this chapel you can take home some dirt that will help to heal people. There is a room lined with crutches that people no longer needed after touching the dirt (which is surprisingly fine and smooth) and saying their prayer. Even if that isn't your thing you should visit this chapel. Just for old it is and the details inside. (Photos are not allowed inside the chapel)

Figures I find a cat in Chimayo.

Prayers of Chimayo

Everyone has a prayer, wish or whatever you call it, everyone has one. Maybe it's for yourself, maybe it's for a family member, but everyone one of us is hoping that ours is the one answered.

I hope most of these prayers were answered.

Make A Wish

Write your wish or prayer on the back of this plaque and hang it for the gods to answer (hopefully)

Kobes' Ikuta Jinjya (Ikuta Shrine)

A view of all 3 gateways.

Who would like to throw in some money, ring the bell and pray?

This was a very muscular guard dog. The ones that I usually see are a little rounder and stocky.

The wind was blowing this decoration which is made of paper.

The rope for ringing the bell.

Sake in barrels were at the temple. I think these barrels were blessed by the temple.

Who wants their fortune to be told?

 Part of the gateway.

Usually the plaques are rectangular. This was the first time I'd seen heart shaped ones.

It had the kanji character for Love on it. I think for people wishing to have luck in Love use these plaques. I think it is a nice idea. What do you think?
